45 choreographers from 15 countries at the Dance Africa dance! biennal

The ninth edition of the Dance Africa dance! biennial will be held in Johannesburg from 28 September to 7 October 2012, as part of Seasons France - South Africa 2012 & 2013. Dance Africa dance! changes course and becomes a pan-African festival. This event, which has become a key meeting place to discover the dance scene in Africa will highlight artists who have traversed its history. It will also focus on the South African scene, offering young artists an opportunity to compare their work with the perspectives of other artists and professionals.

For this edition, the competition has been interrupted, with the programme giving way to works in their original formats. The biennial will take over various venues, such as the Soweto Theatre (a new cultural complex built as part of an ambitious development plan for the Soweto neighbourhood in Johannesburg), the Wits Theatre, the Dance Factory and the Market Theatre, all emblematic venues for the dissemination of dance in South Africa.

The ninth edition of Dance Africa Dance! is an event initiated by the Institut français, co-produced by the Institut français and the Soweto Theatre with the partnership of Total as part of Seasons France - South Africa 2012 & 2013. Executive production company: Dance Forum. More information on : www.danselafriquedanse.com
