This supergroup is about to make its apparition in the territory. Internationally-renowned with performances in various stadiums around the world, their show is programmed for one night only in Johannesburg!

Following their performances in Mozambique in April, the group has decided to extend their visit to South Africa just for you. Enjoy and dance on the zouk grooves of KASSAV on the eve of SA’s Freedom Day.

Hailing from Martinique and Guadeloupe in the Antilles (known as the “French Caribbean” to English-speakers), KASSAV created a sound which incorporates creole and carnival elements from the Caribbean, as well as elements of rock, African music and pop.

Members of the group, bassist Georges Décimus, vocalists Jocelyn Beroard and Jean-Philippe Marthely, keyboardist Jean-Claude Naimro and finally guitarist Jacob Desvarieux, have enchanted music lovers worldwide.

Since 1980, their visits are continuing to increase in all the African continent but Saturday 25 April, come see their performance in Johannesburg.

Making Music Productions – the company which is assisting Kassav in this visit – are specialists when it comes to “introducing the new”.  In the early 1990’s, MMP worked with French structures including the Alliance Francaise – initiating their “Re-connection African” programme. Although artists such as Manu Dibango and Ismael Lo had strongly established audience and market share out in the world, they were unknown in South Africa after years of this country’s political and cultural isolation. Now they, as well as Salif Keita, Papa Wemba, Ray Lema and others have found their place with local music lovers.

So we welcome the “Re-connection” visit, Kassav’s debut.... “la première fois en Afrique du Sud.”
