'Venus in Fur' by Oscar-winning French director in cinemas from 15 August

poster venus in furOscar-winning director Roman Polanski's drama comedy 'Venus in Fur' will be shown in Cinema Nouveau nationwide from 15 August 2014 in Joburg (Rosebank), Pretoria (Brooklyn),  Cap (V&A Waterfront) and Durban (Gateway).

The film, which is based on the play 'Venus in Fur' by American playwright David Ives, centers on Thomas (Mathieu Amalric), a writer-director of a new play, who, after a long, unsuccessful day trying to cast his leading lady, is about to head home when actress Vanda (Emmanuelle Seigner) arrives in a whirlwind. To Thomas's amazement, Vanda shows great understanding of the character and knows every line by heart. And as the audition progresses, the intensity is redoubled and the attraction of Thomas turns into obsession.

'Venus in Fur' was part of the official competition of the 2013 Cannes International Film Festival and won Roman Polanski the César award for Best Director.

‘Venus in Fur’ is showing as part of the Erotic Film Fest at Ster-Kinekor Cinema Nouveau from 15 August 2014 till 5 September 2014.
