Franco-Namibian Cultural Centre of Windhoek

The Franco-Namibian Cultural Centre (FNCC) is one of most important players in Namibia’s cultural scene. The centre aims to intensify the cultural cooperation between Namibia and France while promoting and supporting Namibian cultural identity. The FNCC proposes French language cultural activities by offering a welcoming and convivial 140 sqm. library space where books and  periodicals are on display, by organizing French and English language courses and facilitating lectures, film screenings, theatre plays, concerts or exhibitions. We also aim to promote Namibian artists and cultural projects by offering our know-how, resources and equipment. Consult the FNCC program here!

Being an integral part of the Franco-Namibian Cultural Centre, the multimedia library is open for you: 

Monday & Tuesday from 12:00 to 18:00.
Wednesday & Thursday from 9:00 to 18:00
Friday from 9:00 to 17:30.
And on Saturday from 9:00 to 12:00.

The FNCC Multimedia Library is full of 10.000 documents, most of them in French, shared on:

French easy learner: A section dedicated to French learner on every level. Contains grammar and orthographic books, and French novels (some of them with CDs) classified by language level.

Novels: Close to 3.000 novels in French, separated onto novels, crime stories, science fiction, African novels, biography, poetry and theatre.

English novels: A special shelf dedicated to French famous novels translated into English. This collection also includes bilingual books.

Namibian collection: All about Namibia: landscape, wildlife, flora, inhabitants, economy, history, but also novels from Namibian authors (Namhila, Kaujeua…)

Thematic books: General French books classified according a universal decimal classification about Philosophy, Science, Art, History and Geography.

Comics: Separated between two sections: Adults and Youths comics, the collection includes famous French speaking comic-strip authors (Bilal, Hugo Pratt, Tardi…), classical series (Tintin, Asterix, Lucky Luke…) and new independent authors (Marjane Satrapi, Lewis Throndheim, Pascal Rabaté…)

Youth: For teenagers from 10 to 15, the collection offers a choice of thematic educational books about history, geography, science or nature; and a big collection of tales and youth novels.

Kids: A section devoted to kids, including more than 600 books and magazines.

Multimedia: The multimedia room contains a collection of CDs and DVDs from every country. The film collection is regularly increased and includes a particular collection dedicated to Namibian movies. To consult this catalog, www.africavenir.org

Magazines: The essential of French press, as well as Namibian daily newspapers, are waiting for you and they can be not only consulted on site but also borrowed, except the last issue of each title.
