After the success of Ster City at the Market Theatre and the Alliance Française of Maseru, French director Jean-Paul Delore and his French-South African team are once more setting up shop in Johannesburg, with a residency for their new show entitled A very strong present_2, due for 2015.

Based on fragments of Shakespeare’s Macbeth, ten video portraits were made of Johannesburg-based actors and young people from the Hillbrow Theatre.

Waiting for these portraits to be shown in Hillbrow, in France and on the Web in a few months’ time, street artist Sean Hart has been painting the words of Shakespeare that inspired these portraits onto the walls of Yeoville, Hillbrow and Newtown… a larger-than-stage Macbeth spreading out in the city…

SEAN HART
Conceived in New-York. Born in France in 1981.
Homeless by choice for the past 3 years, Sean has been travelling and working openly in cities around the world. His work is built outside physical and/or mental boundaries. Well-known for his poems and slogans painted large on walls or abandoned mattresses found in the street, he is also behind “the death of Tintin in Congo”. However, his poetic work encompasses much more than painting and also includes photograph, sculpture, performance and short movies. Each work is like the fragmented page of a diary or a travelogue, made up of a multitude of poetic images, all of them raising questions and leaving no one indifferent.
